Sacred sites: Exploration
By © Belinda Allen | Grand Hardcover Photo Book in a Matte Printed cover with 36 Satin 170g pages
Description
'Sacred sites' is a theme that has developed over many years. The representation of landscapes in a mandala form is intended to subvert habitual responses to landscape as purely picturesque and to invite a more immersive and meditative experience.
Exploring rural and outback areas, I considered at the same time the history of these places for indigenous people and immigrants, and what that history means for the development of Australian relationship to land.
Belinda Allen has worked for many years in a variety of photographic and digital media, sometimes incorporating painting, drawing and sculptural assemblage. She lives in Bundeena in the Royal National Park south of Sydney, and shows her work in solo and group exhibitions locally and nationally.
